Looking for a warehouse live/work community in the bay area

I'm hoping to find something in the east bay, Alameda, Oakland thru Berkeley, but would consider other areas as well. I'd like to find a flexible space for my various projects (aquaponics, microcontroller automation) and would like to find a community of people who share meals, conversation and community. My current budget is limited to about $750/mo including utilities.

I'm recently separated and will be losing my apartment soon. I don't have a problem with noise but am allergic to drama. Fairly neat but not obsessively so.

I have a cat. She sleeps most of the time. She's very old (17), very weird, borderline senile or psychotic (it's hard to tell which) and stone deaf. It would break my heart to have to give her up (and not likely I could find someone to take her) or have her put to sleep. I have a snake (just over 2', which is his full size) but am working on finding him another home if that's an issue.

I've lived in households with multiple housemates but haven't lived in a warehouse situation, tho I have always wanted to. So I'm very interested in peoples thoughts and experiences who have. Would also like to visit warehouse community/collectives even if you don't have an opening but enjoy having people over.

420 friendly, LGBT friendly, Pagan/Poly/Kink friendly (hey, I'm a very friendly guy). I also enjoy live action role play games, computer graphics and keeping a reef aquarium.

Drop me a note if you have anything or just to say 'hi'.
